Let's Talk About Insecurities
We all have them. Your best friend, your neighbor, Sally at the supermarket. No one is safe from the feelings of unworthiness and self doubt from time to time. Today I'm coming at you with three tips for overcoming insecurities so that you can walk into your photoshoot with your head held high and confidence on point.
It starts with trusting your photographer.
Trust is the biggest factor when it comes to overcoming those insecurities. Building trust with your photographer goes such a long way. I'll never ask you to do something that doesn't feel right to you. I'll always make you feel safe. I'll hype you up like you wouldn't believe! This is where my skill set and education comes into play.
I have the ability to make people feel comfortable which is incredible, but I'm also knowledgeable in those good angles that will have you feeling your best. Communication is a major part of the ground work leading up to your session. If you think your right side is your good side, then I'll be sure to get that good side. If you're concerned about a certain body part like your arms or your legs, I know what adjustments need to be made so that you can look at your photos and feel the best about yourself. I am all about showcasing the beauty that's there. You've got it already! I just capture it in a way that you'll love.
Think about the legacy you're creating
It doesn't matter if you're dating, engaged, newly married, or an established family- you are creating a legacy every day. Why not document it?
One of my favorite things to do is look at old family pictures. My parents wedding day, pictures from their childhoods. It's what made me who I am today, and I'm thankful to be able to sit and hold those pictures. And you know what, the first thought I have when I see them isn't about their weight, or what they were wearing. I might be questioning a few choice hairstyles, but I know that long after they're gone, I'll have this little piece of them to carry with me. That's what photography does. It offers your legacy a piece of you to hold.
Shift your mindset
Yeah, I know. This one is boring. Other people can make you feel safe and comfortable, but truly the only one that can make you secure about yourself is you. Know that you are worthy. Worthy of love. Worthy of feeling beautiful. Worthy of having lasting memories.
